The Farm Water Supply Planning Scheme (FWSPS) is one of a number of water supply initiatives administered under the Department of Water's Rural Water Planning Program.
The aim of the FWSPS is to encourage commercial farmers to participate in a comprehensive farm water supply audit and planning exercise that provides the framework for an on-going process of addressing serious water deficiency, improving water resource management and encouraging conservation and efficient use of water.
The FWSPS provides rebates for commercial farmers in dryland agricultural districts (areas receiving less than 600 mm average annual rainfall) to prepare a Farm Water Supply Plan with the assistance of farm water supply auditors approved by the Department of Water. This process must precede any application for rebates under the Farm Water Rebate Scheme for water supply improvements on a farm.
An information booklet on both the FWSPS and FWRS is available by clicking on the Information for applicants - 2009 link to the right.
