The Rural Water Planning Program offers support to farmland communities and landholders through the provision of technical advice and publications designed to assist with on-farm water supply issues.
The Department of Water has published several Rural Water Notes on topics ranging from how to conduct a simple pump test to on-farm water supply reliability issues. Copies of the documents can be downloaded below or you can request a copy of any of the documents by contacting us as shown below. For advice on a specific issue, or if you would like further information on a water supply issue affecting your farm, please contact the rural water planning team on 1800 780 300 or email ruralwater@water.wa.gov.au.
Farm water supply auditors involved with the Farm Water Supply Planning Scheme (FWSPS) are another way in which the Department of Water assists rural landholders to plan for and develop sustainable water supplies on farm. The auditors provide assistance to landholders by guiding them through a planning process which includes an audit of farm water supplies. During the planning process, relevant demand and supply issues are identified and possible solutions are explored. Auditors can provide a range of publications to landholders on issues identified during the auditing and planning process. For more information on the auditing and planning process or to contact an auditor, please refer to the Farm Water Supply Planning Scheme section.
