Winter sprinkler ban
As of 1 June 2010, a permanent winter sprinkler ban for scheme water, garden bore users and some licensed water users applies to the Perth/Mandurah and South West areas of the state. The ban will apply from June 1 until August 31 each year. Maps, exemptions and who the ban will apply to are provided on the Department of Water website and links to the water providers - Water Corporation, Aqwest and Busselton Water.

Daytime sprinkler ban
A 9 am to 6 pm daytime sprinkler ban applies to scheme water and domestic garden bores across Western Australia with the aim of avoiding inefficient water use caused by evaporation.
The daytime sprinkler ban also applies to some licensed bore users, such as local governments and schools. These licences allow users to take a defined volume of water each year.

Domestic garden bores – suitable locations, watering rosters and exemptions
Information on garden bores, watering rosters, exemptions and a map of suitable and unsuitable areas for installing a garden bore is available on the Department of Water website.
|
Water Corporation – watering rosters, dos and don'ts and exemptions
To achieve water savings in the garden, sprinkler rosters are in place as part of the government's permanent water efficiency measures. Information for scheme water users and contact details for inquiries are provided on the Water Corporation website.

Non-drinking water sources (other than groundwater)
The government's current watering rosters do not apply to the use of stormwater, rainwater, greywater and treated wastewater. However, all water sources should be used responsibly and efficiently.
The Department of Health and the Department of Environment and Conservation may place conditions on the time of the day and duration of irrigation with recycled water to minimise human contact and impacts on the environment. Appropriate signage is required where non-drinking water is used for irrigation of public open space.
