Predicted lower rainfalls in the south-west of the state and an increasing population means we can no longer rely solely on traditional water supplies to meet the community's demands for water. We need to increase water-use efficiency and investigate opportunities to use alternative water sources.
The Waterwise community toolkit provides land developers, local governments and householders with information on water-use efficiency, water conservation and non-drinking water sources in urban developments and in the community. The toolkit does not address commercial or industrial water recycling.
Information is provided on wastewater, greywater, rainwater, stormwater and groundwater as non-drinking water sources.
