2007 Department of Water and Water Corporation Awards Launch

Outstanding water conservation efforts by individuals and organisations will be recognised through a series of awards that open today.
The 2007 Department of Water and Water Corporation Water Awards provide an opportunity for individuals, schools, business and industry to demonstrate their work in the field of water conservation and water efficiency.
Department of Water Acting Director General Paul Frewer said last year's inaugural awards had been an overwhelming success attracting more than 80 entries from across the State."
These Awards provide an opportunity unique to Western Australia, where organisations and individuals can showcase their efforts in trying to either improve water products and services or find solutions to water-related issues," Mr Frewer said.
"Western Australian-based organisations and individuals are invited to nominate their achievements in one or more of the award categories."
The award categories are:
- Waterwise Plumber
- Waterwise Garden Irrigator
- Waterwise Irrigation Design Shop
- Waterwise Landscaper
- Waterwise Garden Centre
- Waterwise Land Development
- Waterwise Business
- Waterwise School
- Management of Water Resources
- Water Conservation and Efficiency
- Water Recycling
- Water Innovation
An Award for Excellence will be awarded to the most outstanding category winner.
"We look forward to seeing a wide range of innovative entries from all facets of the State's water industry," Mr Frewer said.
Nominations close on Friday, 3 August 2007, with the winners being announced during a gala dinner on Thursday, 11 October 2007.
